Our Teaching Method |
|
|
|
• Repetition
The simple exercise on the right engages repetition of the "L" shaped pattern so that even very young children can easily learn to move the Knight.
• Self-Discovery
The Knights are purposely placed: in the corner, at the edge, and near the center to lead the student to self-discover: the Knight near the center has the most moves, the Knight at the edge fewer, and the Knight in the corner fewer still.
• Sequential Foundation Building
By discovering that each Knight's power is relative to its position on the board, the student is building a foundation to better understand more advanced game analysis. All good chess players know the center is vital territory and the edge and corner
are where pieces are usually less powerful. |
